Another Tennessee Titan bites the dust as the Indianapolis Colts signed free agent Donnie Avery just a few days ago. I’m a little disappointed to see Avery go, especially to a division rival.
Avery didn’t really give the Titans much in his time with them, waiting till the last game of the season to make an impact, but I still see promise in the young guy.
It’s a good signing by the Colts. Avery doesn’t come with a big contract and certainly has the potential to resurrect his career, especially if Andrew Luck is everything he’s cracked up to be.
Avery is a fast receiver and eager to get back to form. If he can regain form and become the deep threat he once was for the St. Louis Rams, the Colts will have done a great deal for a roster that has been facing some major changes this offseason with the loss of numerous veterans, including Peyton Manning and Pierre Garçon.
It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out for the Colts. If nothing else, Avery at least adds some cheap depth to a rather vacant position on the Colts roster.
