Now before the crazies come and try to lynch me, hear me out. I know the thought of Peyton Manning on the Tennessee Titans is enough to make fans drool. I’m not arguing that Manning isn’t a Hall of Fame QB, because obviously that would be stupid. I’m just saying he shouldn’t be a Titan. Here’s why…
We don’t need another QB.
Hasselbeck and Locker are more than competent and adding another at such a heavy price, is beyond recompense. Yes Locker still has a lot to learn and yes Hasselbeck is aging, but to put more burden on the cap at an already solidified position while other positions are in dire need isn’t a move the Titans should be making. You know who is worth spending a fortune on and would address a position in dire need? Mario Williams. He’s also not a soon-to-be 36 year old QB who has had multiple surgeries to repair an injured neck.
Will Manning still be Manning?
The field general we’ve seen run the Colts for the past decade may not be the same player today. Four neck surgeries and a weaker throwing arm certainly are cause for concern. He certainly doesn’t have the bonus of youth being on his side. Investing the type of money it’ll take to get Manning when he’s an aging liability that may or may not be able to play at the level he has been known for is just not something the Titans should do. Wanna make a big bang in free agency? Spend your money on someone you know is going to produce and fills a need. Sign Mario Williams
See a theme here? Don’t sign Peyton Manning. Save your money and spend it on Mario Williams. We need a DE, not a QB.
