On Sunday afternoon the Peyton Manning Sweepstakes officially had another player throw their hat into the ring. The Tennessee Titans. It had appeared that Tennessee’s front office was pleased with the current QB situation but one man is not. And that man just happens to be 89 year old owner Bud Adams. Adams told the Tennessean Sunday that “He is the man I want. Period. And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”
This is an interesting development as it had seemed Tennessee was not going to be a player in pursuing Peyton Manning. Bud Adams has contacted Manning’s agent Tom Condon about bringing the QB to Tennessee to discuss a possible future between the two.
That’s why I am so anxious to get him to come visit with us and I want him on my team. I could sit down with him and show him what (we’d be willing to pay). If he would come (meet) with me he would be happy with what he’d get.” said Adams.
For an owner known as being “cheap” these certainly are some very strong words. Tennessee’s chances of landing the future hall of fame QB have risen dramatically with Bud Adams pulling the strings. Peyton Manning may or may not work in Tennessee but the idea of him coming in has to excite Titans’ fans.
