The Tennessee Titans have a lot of choices to make this offseason with their player personnel. It’s starting to looking like they might be cleaning house.
Contract talks with Jason Jones seem to have stalled, making it quite likely that he’ll at least test free agency, if not disappear by it.
There hasn’t been any news of contract talks with veteran DE’s Dave Ball and William Hayes, which leads one to believe they both could have played their last down as a Titan as the March 13th date of free agency nears. Perhaps the Titans have their eyes set on some DE’s from other teams who look like they’ll be free agents.
They have to, really. Letting that many players go at an already weak position sounds ludicrous. If they do let all those players walk, you can almost guarantee they plan on taking a DE with the 20th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, one that can step in and immediately be a starter for the Titans. That means they’ll be looking at all the top-tier DE’s: Whitney Mercilus, Nick Perry, Melvin Ingram, and Quinton Coples.
In the end, we’re still just here waiting. March 13th can’t come soon enough. That’ll be the beginning of some drastic roster changes of NFL teams and help give a more clear picture of what we can expect teams to be looking for in the first round of the upcoming draft. As of right now though, it’s starting to look like the Titans will indeed be leaning towards a DE with the 20th pick.
