Are the Tennessee Titans Cleaning House?

Every Titan in the picture is set to be a free agent Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE

The Tennessee Titans have a lot of choices to make this offseason with their player personnel. It’s starting to looking like they might be cleaning house.

Contract talks with Jason Jones seem to have stalled, making it quite likely that he’ll at least test free agency, if not disappear by it.

There hasn’t been any news of contract talks with veteran DE’s Dave Ball and William Hayes, which leads one to believe they both could have played their last down as a Titan as the March 13th date of free agency nears. Perhaps the Titans have their eyes set on some DE’s from other teams who look like they’ll be free agents.

They have to, really. Letting that many players go at an already weak position sounds ludicrous. If they do let all those players walk, you can almost guarantee they plan on taking a DE with the 20th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, one that can step in and immediately be a starter for the Titans. That means they’ll be looking at all the top-tier DE’s: Whitney Mercilus, Nick Perry, Melvin Ingram, and Quinton Coples.

In the end, we’re still just here waiting. March 13th can’t come soon enough. That’ll be the beginning of some drastic roster changes of NFL teams and help give a more clear picture of what we can expect teams to be looking for in the first round of the upcoming draft. As of right now though, it’s starting to look like the Titans will indeed be leaning towards a DE with the 20th pick.

    @JustinLStewart part of me thinks they won’t take a de maybe just take the best player available.

  • JustinLStewart

    @titansfan4life Yeah. It really depends on free agency. DE is a huge need. Be interesting to see how they address it.

  • titansfan4life

    @JustinLStewart coples perry and maybe ingram will be gone by 20. Ingram might be there.

  • JustinLStewart

    @titansfan4life Only time will tell. Miami will be hungry for one, possibly chargers and seahawks… I’m dying for free agency to start.

  • titansfan4life

    @JustinLStewart two weeks I believe.

  • JustinLStewart

    @titansfan4life March 13th

  • titansfan4life

    @JustinLStewart not far away… I know the tag deadline is march 5

  • JustinLStewart

    @titansfan4life Yup. Be a big one. See what happens with Griffin.

  • titansfan4life

    @JustinLStewart yep. Im 50/50 on tagging him. But it’s a 6 mil tag ur gonna pay some safety that same amount. Might as well

  • JustinLStewart

    @titansfan4life May as well. Just not a good year for safeties. Still could return to form. Skilled player, just needs the drive.

  • titansfan4life

    @JustinLStewart exactly. The drive. Last year at times he had it. Just needs to be consistent

  • seagle1

    Totally agreed….the inconsistent Griffin was a killer….we already had one safety in Hope that couldn’t cover so watching receivers break wide open was painful!!!
