Ruston Webster looks to be the real deal

For those of you who missed it, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean had a great article published the other day. You can check it out here. In it, he goes on to talk about our “new” GM Ruston Webster, whom we at Titan Sized profiled for you last week (Catch it here if you missed it). In reading it, you get the sense that Webster is very highly regarded within the football community. He also is presented as having a very ego-free, team-oriented approach to his work; sort of the anti-Polian if you will. Given the class and air of respect and positivity that Munchak and his crew have infused into the franchise, I think Webster will be a very nice fit. Some choice excerpts:

“Ruston has plenty of capacity. He is a very good talent evaluator, very organized, a hard worker, and he works well with people. If anyone is more prepared for that job, I don’t know who it is.” – Falcons President Rich McKay

“He is a great consensus-builder. He wants to know what everyone thinks and feels, knowing he is going to make the best decision for the team. And he doesn’t care who gets the credit. He’s always been that way.” – Bears GM Jerry Angelo

“He likes guys that are tough, and… [he] wants guys that are smart. If he’s going to put a player on the board and stand behind him, he would have those two attributes. He doesn’t like lazy, and he won’t make excuses for guys.” – Rich McKay
