Cortland Finnegan Sells House

J.R. Lind of the Nashville Post reported this morning that Cortland Finnegan has sold one of his houses in Nashville today. He also made the note that Finnegan still owns two other pieces of property in Nashville, though one of those is his mother’s home.

Pending Tennessee Titans free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan sold his Riverwalk home today for $228,000, according to a filing with Davidson County Register of Deeds… From a fiduciary standpoint, the sixth-year man out of Samford took a loss, having bought the Bellevue home for $272,900 in the spring of 2007.

This certainly doesn’t bode as a good sign for Finnegan and the Titans. Finnegan is set to be a free agent March 13 and has yet to have contract talks since walking out on them during practice this last fall. Finnegan is the Titans number one cornerback and is one of three key defensive backs set to be a free agent. If the Titans let him leave via free agency, as well as Michael Griffin, they best have their eyes set on some players they think are adequate replacements and be willing to pay for them. Otherwise the Titans have a pretty naked backfield, save Verner and McCourty.

I love Finnegan, to the point where I constantly have to defend him against friends. As much as I hate to say it, I think the franchise will let him walk. The only thing that may work to our advantage is that I don;t think the rest of the league sees how good he really is, and he may get snubbed in free agency, in which case we could bring him back at a discount for another couple of years until Verner and McCourty reach their prime.

That would be such a dumb move

Not really.. The question is if they'll even bother to use it. They didn't use it last year. Finnegan wants to be here a long time and Franchise tags are expensive. They may not even bother with it.

besides Finnegan is there any other logical choices for it?

Yes we can. We have it and haven't used it on anyone yet.

Yeah we'll see. So far things aren't looking good. They haven't even spoken to him.

He's not ready to leave. He has said on numerous occasions he'd like to retire as a Titan. As for him saying this would be his last year, he's felt as if the team won't re-sign him. He wants to be a Titan, it just appears the team won't give him his contract.
