Today the Colts announced the firing of head coach Jim Caldwell shortly after saying he would remain the head coach. It’s not surprising to see Caldwell go. He inherited an empire and blindly rode it out until it fell apart with the loss of Peyton Manning. Poor draft choices and a lack of depth on the roster were all exposed as the Colts tumbled from their ivory tower to the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.
There was a outburst on BlueStampede.com, a Colts’ fansite, after the announcement that Caldwell would remain coach. Only hours after the outcries from fans jumped up all over the internet and Twitter, the announcement that Caldwell had been fired was delivered. I’d say the Colts fan base played a heavy role in the unseating of Caldwell. With Colts owner Jim Isray owning a Twitter account, many fans barraged him with messages displaying their anger at Caldwell not being fired.
Who’ll be the next Colts head coach is completely up in the air. Before the firing of Caldwell the Colts interviewed Steve Spagnuolo for the defensive coordinator position. He may get a look at for their head coaching position but most likely not.
As a Titans fan, you have to be a little disappointed. Caldwell was a conservative softy that made playing the Colts that much easier. Any coach they get now will almost definitely be an upgrade. They also get Luck….
