There wasn’t a single Titans fan that wasn’t upset last week as the Titans became the first team of the season to lose to the Indianapolis Colts. This week we’ve all gotta feel a little better about the loss. With the Colts win against the Texans last night, they are no longer the sole leaders for the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. They’re still in the running, but the odds of another team stealing that pick just got that much better.
The Colts have long been the solo contenders for the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. It has been one of the most miserable things ever to haunt a Titans fan: the Colts finally fall apart and are rewarded with the first pick of the 2012 Draft of which everyone agrees, will be Andrew Luck, the next Peyton Manning. Luckily for us, things are changing. There is a three way tie right now for the first pick. It’s between three teams with 2 wins. The Colts, the Rams, and the Vikings are all tied at 2 wins, though the Vikings and Rams have yet to play their games this week.
The Colts face the Jaguars for their final game of the season which, after the past couple games, would appear to be a gimme game for the Colts. The Vikings, on the other hand, face both the Redskins and the Bears. Likewise the Rams face both the Steelers and the 49ers. All of those matchups lean in favor of the Colts.
If the Colts win next week against the Jaguars, it seems almost a certainty that another team, likely the struggling Rams, will sneak past them for the first pick of the draft. As a Titans fan, one can only hope so.
