In 2009, the Seahawks made Aaron Curry the 4th overall selection. By my thinking, this is absurdly high for an outside linebacker, however they didn’t ask me and picked him anyway.
Curry was known for his raw athleticism (aren’t all top picks?) as well as his humble nature. He really caries himself in a model way, while giving you the true “good guy” to root for. Apparently, he hasn’t cut it in Seattle. Out of the starting lineup, Curry might be on a new team in the next few weeks.
Now, Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Seahawks are entertaining offers for Curry, after his demotion from the starting lineup. With only 33 games played, Curry amounted 147 tackles with 5.5 sacks (not overly impressive, but not bad, by any means.
Now, I’ll admit that I haven’t watched anything from Curry recently. There hasn’t been a game in the last two years that I sat down for and purposefully kept my eyes on Curry. However, I do have a proposition.
Curry stands 6’4″ and weighs in around 255 lbs. He has great hands around the line of scrimmage and seems to generate speed from nowhere (at least he did at Wake Forest in college).
So, couldn’t he make an excellent defensive end for this young Titans defense? He played with a hand on the ground some in college. I imagine it would only take a 5th-6th round pick.
Let me know what you think in the comments. Seattle opinions are more than welcome.
