Back Down to Earth: Titans Begin Looking At WR Options

facebooktwitterreddit

The Titans came out with a win Sunday, but lost one of the NFL’s most dangerous receivers for the season. The Titans now have a very unproven group of receivers ready to line up. With Kenny Britt officially out for the season the Titans are looking at free agent options to add depth to the WR position. After the jump we look at the receivers the Titans have been in contact with already.

Buster Davis- Former 1st round pick by the San Diego Chargers in 2007

Well there’s not really much else to say about him. Entering his 4th year in the NFL, he has only totaled 558 yards and 2 touchdowns. Injuries have apparently plagued this former first rounders career and as there hasn’t been much to see from his career, there isn’t much to say. He has yet to prove he has what it takes to make it in the NFL.

Donnie Avery – Former 2nd round pick by the St. Louis Rams in 2008

Avery presents a very interesting prospect and I hope the Titans get the chance to work him out and possibly sign him. He’s scheduled to workout for the Titans tuesday, but just before that he’s supposed to workout for the Carolina Panthers. If he signs with them first, we obviously won’t get the chance. Avery missed the 2010 season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game. In his first two years he totaled 1,263 yards and 8 touchdowns. He had quite the hype surrounding him before this last injury. He was released by the Rams September 3rd and has since been a free agent. He probably has the most upside of any of the wide receivers we bring in and I’m quite interested in what he could offer the Titans.

Justin Gage – Former Titan

Please God no… Anything thing but this…. ANYTHING

Either way, whoever the Titans bring in will be coming into quite the competition between receivers to fight for playing time. Now’s the time for our young receivers D. Williams, M. Mariani, and L. Hawkins to prove themselves.

I’m just trying to keep my head up after this Britt news… If Chris Johnson can just get this run game going we should be okay.
