Terry McCormick had tweeted that HC Mike Munchak said the Titans are preparing to find another option if CJ2K continues his holdout. Here’s a quick list of free agents available at the runnig back position that I feel could fit with what the Titans looking for.
Clinton Portis (Veteran 3rd-down Back)
Portis once starred for the Redskins after being involved in the ‘Champ-Baily’ trade. At thirty years old, Portis’ best days remain in the past. Fortunately, he can still bring excellent pass protection to this team as well as veteran leadership in Chris Johnson’s absence.
Laurence Maroney (Possible Reclamation Project)
It’s hard to find someone who still believes in Maroney’s abilities. Drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft, Maroney showed flashes but never developed into the next Correy Dillon, who he split time with during his rookie year. Maroney remains a backup option and could add depth to the Titans squad.
Fred Taylor (Veteran Pounder)
After spending most of his career with the rival Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor moved on to the Patriots for a two-year span in which he missed a number of games further strengthening the nickname–Fragile Fred. Taylor would come in to serve depth purposes and give veteran leadership.
