Titans to Surprise in 2011

Yes, we just had our very first preseason game and yes, there is still a lot to see before we should be jumping to conclusions… But I’m gonna do it anyways. Just…you…read….

The Titans are going to be one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this year. Seriously. No I don’t expect us to take over and go to the superbowl and win and all that goody good stuff… But I expect this team to be a great surprise to the league. We’ve got a young team that appears to have a bunch of budding stars and the drive to back it up.

By my counting, we should win about 8 to 9 games for certain. I’d give us wins against the Jaguars, Broncos, Texans, Bengals, Panthers, Bills, Jaguars, and Texans again. Jaguars have added some good players this off-season, but I still don’t see them coming through as a solid team. Broncos are switching back to a 4-3 defense have an aging secondary, to say the least. They’ll also be dealing with the Orton- Tebow controversy all season, which may end up being a very big distraction for their locker room. The Texans have a fairly solid team and have bulked up on defense this off-season as well, but we all know who the better team is… The Bengals seem somewhat disassembled, and will probably be in the running for the top five picks of the next draft. Trying to look at the Panthers as a serious threat after this past year is more than I can bear. They just aren’t in the position to do it. Who are their wide receivers, anyway? Then we’re back to the hapless Bills. Maybe they’ll make a turn around this year. Last year they managed to do some damage, but I’m not giving them the one up on the Titans.

With those out of the way, we’ve got 8 wins and with all the determination I see in all these young players, I wouldn’t be surprised if we upset the Colts or Ravens. I didn’t even mention the fact we also played the Browns, who after having a fairly good season, fired their coach. Taking away that stability may very well have set that team right back down in the dumps.

With all that in mind, we’ve got a revamped defense looking to bring back the fear the Titan’s were once known for and a offense full of young players looking to prove themselves.

This may be the most exciting season watching the Titans in recent memory….

Go Titans!!!
