Titans Lose Linebacker to the Lions

Former starting Middle Linebacker Stephen Tulloch signed with the Detriot Lions, per Pro Football Talk.

This happened on August 31 and I’m a few days behind putting a post up specifically for him. The Titans, in my opinion, really screwed the pooch letting Tulloch get away. He was a force in the middle and gave teams a reason to simply choose to run to the sides. Tulloch will be missed.

If you’re a stats geek, here it is:

2010–160 total tackles

2009–121 tt

2008–45 tt

Who will be making those tackles in 2011? Hopefully new signee Barrett Ruud from the Buc’s can step in, but he plays a different game. Ruud is more of a coverage linebacker. When the Titans face the Jaguars in week 1, there will be 4 new starting linebackers between the two teams: Ruud and 2nd rounder Akeem Ayers for the Titans and for the Jaguars: Clint Session, former Colt, and Paul Posluzny (former Bill). This could get interesting and no one really knows exactly what will happen. Should make for a good game.
