The Tennessee Titans made a few headline moves today, including getting Jake Locker into camp. REMEMBER, new quarterback Matthew Hasselbeck can’t begin practicing until August 4th due to the new CBA rules and Hasselbeck being on a new contract.
First round pick QB Jake Locker signed for 4 years and $12 million guaranteed, with an option for a 5th year.
2nd round pick LB Akeem Ayers reached an agreement with the team for a 4 year deal, hopefully the details will come later.
Info per Jim Wyatt of the Tennesseean (twitter). He has been all over everything, including the above-posted deal for Shaun Smith (chiefs defensive lineman), so make sure to give him a follow to stay updated!!
The free agent signing of the day for the Titans comes in on the defensive line, and he’s not named Ray Edwards. The Titans have finnagled defensive tackle Shaun Smith from the Chiefs, as the AP reveals:
Neil Schwartz confirmed the deal to The Associated Press. Tennessee has declined comment on any deals until the team is able to sign veterans Friday afternoon.
Smith, an eight-year veteran, spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs and had 56 tackles and one sack with 10 starts. He has 208 tackles and three sacks in 79 career games.
Smith stands 6’2″ and weighs in at 325 lbs. He will turn 30 in August.
