Most reports now lead us to believe that those that represent the players (NFLPA?), which includes DeMaurice Smith and the player representatives for all teams will vote to ratify the newest edition of a possible Contract Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and the players. Is it false hope?
While most that have run things for both sides have abased themselves to most fans, I have taken the approach of apathy. Knowing that I can’t personally affect the situation, I’ve just gotten tired of it. Literally every single football fan I’ve talked to has also gotten tired of it. I don’t know a single individual that resides in a patient place. It’s sad when a blurb of how Brett Favre might play backup for the Eagles becomes exciting. It is actual football talk…
Regardless, I’m preempting to say this: False Hope Kills. Fans aren’t going to be as forgiving if this is false hope.
Said Hutchinson: “I think there will be some good news coming out tomorrow.”
Hutchinson’s remarks come amid rampant reports that the NFLPA* Executive Committee and then the board of player representatives (including Hutchinson) will vote Monday to recommend acceptance of the labor deal passed by the owners last week, presumably with some tweaking.
It’s widely believed that, if the Executive Committee and the board of player representatives vote to recommend the deal, the players overwhelming will vote to accept it.
Steve Hutchinson is the player rep for the MN Vikings. He is an All-Pro guard and by all accounts–as high character individual as there is in the league.
You’re not a stripper, Steve. So, let’s not be teasing anybody here…….
