Today after the Titans had their closed practice at Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Chris Johnson said of Jake Locker,
“Everybody knows he is going to be the starting quarterback so we’re trying to get him ready,” Johnson said. “He’s a top 10 pick and they got rid of Vince Young. So of course he is going to be the quarterback. Everybody knows that.”
Here is the link to the brief interview. I can’t quite say I agree with Johnson that Locker will be the starting quarterback for the Titans from game one. Though with the possibility of the season being cut in half and a lack of free agency, I can’t truly say that Locker won’t be. With Collins likely to retire, Locker is easily the best quarterback on the roster and would be more familiar with the playbook than any free agent we’d be bringing in.
Johnson also said,
” … It’s the first day of seeing him but I can see he’s a hard worker and he wants to get better. You can tell he wants to be the quarterback of this team. You can see he’s a pretty good quarterback the way he throws the ball … and he is mobile also. He is a cool guy, a good guy.”
Until this lockout ends, we’re all just stuck here, twiddling our thumbs and guessing at what the outcome will be of this gigantic mess known as the NFL.
