Titan Sized Report: enVY not

Bud Adams did the unthinkable
He admitted he made a mistake sticking with “his guy” for this long, despite numerous problems and distractions on and off the field.  To be clear, VY is a talented physical specimen with the potential to be a franchise quarterback.  Maybe this ugly affair will be the fresh start VY needs to become the quarterback that beat a seemingly invincible USC squad, by himself.

Possible suitors for Vince Young
The list of NFL teams that need a quarterback is long.  And Young’s resume is good enough for most teams to overlook his mercurial tendencies.  The list includes (in no particular order) the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals.

Prediction of Vince Young’s future home
The Panthers, Cardinals, and Bills will take a quarterback in the first round.  The Raiders, Dolphins, and Redskins are unlikely candidates given the messes those franchises are plunging into right now.  Leaving the Vikings, 49ers, and Seahawks.  If the Titans can work a trade, these are the likely suspects, expect something in the neighborhood of a 2nd or 3rd round pick as the starting price.

Fisher still has some explaining to do
In each of the last 2 seasons the Titans have 6-game losing skids.  Both skids are more than enough to erase memories of a fluke 13-3 season in 2008.  Sooner or later, blaming injuries, coaching staff transitions, tough division play, or petulant quarterbacks are just excuses.  If Adams gives Fisher another chance, the leash will be short.  Shorter.  The shortest.

What this means for the Tennessee Titan’s 2011 season
Early.  Decisive.  Thought out.  So far, so good.  The Titan locker room needed this resolved so they can process this dramatic change and move on.  Now the only question lingering is, will the Titan locker room still follow Jeff Fisher?  If Mike Reinfeldt and Bud Adams believe that they will, Fisher will stay.  If not… it will be a long off season and rebuilding process for the Titans.
