2PC: Please Pass the Sacks

The 2-point conversion, or 2PC, is two quick points from this week’s game about next week’s game.  The first point will highlight a Titan player or unit that was the game-changing factor in this week’s game (vs. Denver Broncos). While the second point will highlight a weakness of the Titan’s upcoming opponent (this week, the Dallas Cowboys) from their game.

1. Tennessee Titans

Passing Defense (210 passing yards per game, 4 interceptions, 16 sacks)

Losing Derrick Morgan for the rest of the year weakens the Titan defensive line rotation, but honestly the best parts (Tony Brown, Jason Jones, Dave Ball, Jason Babin, and Jacob Ford) are still in place or returning to face a weak Dallas offensive line.  The sacks will be plentiful.  However, the Titans only chance to win this game will be to create points off turnovers.  Forcing a fumble during one of the many sacks or returning an interception for a touchdown will be key to keeping this high-flying Cowboy offense in check.

2. Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo (23-30, 284 yards, 2 TDs) vs. Houston Texans

Romo is leading one of the deepest and most talented offenses in the NFL.  Yes, they underachieve.  Yes, the offensive line is battered and thin.  But Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Marion Barber, and Felix Jones are good enough to be the #1 at their respective positions on most teams in the league right now.  If Romo has time, the Titans will again see a quarterback pass for 300 yards.  And even then, Kyle Orton passed for over 300 yards, spending most of the day on his back.

Romo and the Cowboys are on track after thrashing the Texans last week.  Typically, this team behaves similar to a locomotive when they inevitably get rolling in recent years.  The Cowboys, like the Titans, are capable of laying eggs at home big enough to fill a 10-gallon Stetson.  So, the Titans could steal this game if they play at a high level for four quarters.  Unfortunately, another 4th quarter letdown will leave the Titans short, keep Jerry Jones smiling, and the Cowboys will continue to chug through their schedule.
