Post-draft coverage is just as bad as anything pre-draft. To me, it almost makes more sense to predict where these guys are going based on need than it does to guess how good these guys are going to be on the next level. Does that mean that I don’t watch and read the stuff? Of course not. In fact, it’s all I’ve done for the past three days. And what have I concluded about the Titans draft from all of it? Not a whole lot. The bottom line is that it’s all a crapshoot and it usually tends to be [...]

3rd Round: Made trade with Patriots (go figure) to acquire a second pick in round three. Selected TE Jared Cook out of South Carolina with the 25th pick of the round (89th overall). Then selected CB Ryan Mouton from Hawaii with the 30th pick of the round (94 overall). Mouton should add depth to the secondary and help out in the return game as well. Cook was the second rated TE on a lot of draft boards, and the Titans must have wanted him badly enough to give up their 2nd round selection in 2010 draft. This guy’s got a [...]

How does TitanNation (I promise to NEVER use that term again) feel about selecting Britt? Great pick? Terrible pick? Ehhh pick?
6:52 PM, CST: Pittsburgh takes DE Evander “Ziggy’ Hood out of Missouri with the last selection of the first round.
6:27 PM, CST: The Cards just selected Beanie Wells.
Tennessee picked Kenny Britt, which isn’t bad, but I think [...]

Was just watching SportsCenter and they had a breaking news alert that said the Titans were offering a 2nd round pick and a player (unnamed) to the Cardinals for Anquan Boldin. Apparently, they have received permission to speak with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, about a new contract as well. Holy hell.
Not sure who the player may be. Tulloch? Stamer? Harris? Amano?
We may actually have something to be excited about this off-season.
Much more to come…
UPDATE: Arizona has made a statement that saying no team has made an offer as of yet for Boldin. Maybe not, but that doesn’t mean one won’t. [...]
Alright folks, we’re just 24 hours away from day 1 of the 2009 NFL Draft, and we’re going to take a little leap of faith into the great unknown. By that I mean we’re going to take a stab at picking all of the Titans 10 draft picks. Obviously an undertaking like this involves a fair amount of “educated guessing”, and in a few days time we’ll know which word to put the emphasis on. So, without further ado:
ROUND 1 (30 Overall): LB Rey Maualuga, USC
ROUND 2 (62 Overall): CB D.J. Moore, Vanderbilt
ROUND 3 (94 Overall): WR Louis Murphy, Florida [...]
The last time the Titans took a linebacker in the first round was in 2000 with the selection of Keith Bulluck. I’d say that pick turned out pretty well. He also happened to be the 30th pick in that draft. Since then, the Titans haven’t had to worry too much about at the position. Bulluck has held that unit down for going on almost a decade now and the cast of characters put around him during that time, while solid, wasn’t a list of future Hall of Famers. As good as Bulluck has been on the field and in the [...]
Defensive Line might very well be where the Titans see the biggest drop off from the production of last year’s starters. Pro Bowl DE Kyle Vanden Bosch fought injuries much of last year, and didn’t play every game in a season for the first time since his rookie campaign in 2001. His counterpart on the opposite end of the line, Jevon Kearse, played above expectations in his first season with the Titans since 2003. With that said, Kearse’s last few lackluster seasons in Philadelphia made any consistent production a huge improvement, and Kearse has a lot of wear and tear (plus [...]
2009 Mock Draft: Version 3.0
#
Team
Pick
1
Detroit Lions
(0-16)
QB Matt Stafford, Georgia
It’s time to bite the bullet and give Stafford to Detroit. We’ve resisted doing this for the last few months, but it looks like it’s going down this way. If not: we almost told you so.
2
St. Louis Rams
(2-14)
OT Jason Smith, Baylor
Top tackle available in a very good OT draft class. Should be able to fill the void left by Orlando Pace pretty nicely, even though those are huge shoes to fill.
3
Kansas City Chiefs
(2-14)
LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest
Curry is probably the highest rated player in the draft, he just happens to play the wrong position to [...]
The Titans do draft DBs in the first round. The Titans have picked a defensive back with their first round pick in three of the last six NFL drafts, and there’s a very realistic chance that the trend continues this year. In that span of time Tennessee has drafted Pro Bowl FS Michael Griffin, Andre Woolfolk and Asteroid Jones. While the Jones experiment didn’t work out all that well, that debacle won’t (obviously) dissuade the Titans from picking a CB if the value is there when they pick at #30. Nick Harper’s age makes CB a position that Tennessee could [...]
