Nothing Going On in Nashville…

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Gameday, Injuries, Off-Topic, Rumors, Titans, Uncategorized, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Or at least it’s eerily quiet in Titanville, and it has been for some time now. So quiet in fact, that the local paper is running stories about the economy, traffic stops, local cuisine and the housing market. In the sports section. To be fair, there hasn’t been a whole lot of news to report over the past week, but we could take a look at some things that may be coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks and months (in no particular and somewhat reverse order). That is, unless you want to read another story about motivating [...]

A Hard Knock Life

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Off-Topic, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Got a hot link (please click this) for you all this afternoon that I thought I would share. Apparently, a Titans fan named David Farris has put together a petition to get your very own Tennessee Titans on HBO’s HardKnocks. If you’ve ever seen the program, then you know that it’s something that would only fly on HBO. And if you have indeed seen it, then I can only hope it wasn’t one of the seasons that the Dallas Cowboys were on it. If we learned anything from them, it’s that they are indeed “America’s Team”. Self-absorbed, greedy and completely [...]

What’s Eating Sean Casey?

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

When I woke up this morning I turned on MLB Network (which is quickly becoming my favorite channel) and noticed Sean Casey is among the seemingly hundreds of former players that are part of their on air-talent. No big deal- I’ve never had much of an opinion about Sean Casey one way or another- but something grabbed my attention.
I guess I associate Casey with the Reds, so for some reason what I thought was a Jersey accent surprised me(perhaps because I was still half asleep and anything could have surprised me/perhaps because I’m about to be in a baseball league  [...]

Keith Bulluck Recruiting Torry Holt

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Tennessean’s Gary Estwick has reported that Keith Bulluck was actively recruiting veteran wide receiver Torry Holt to join the Titans, in an interview with Adam Schein and Solomon Wilcots Tuesday on Sirius Radio.
Said Bulluck:
I think Torry Holt still is one of the best in the game…There’s still some off-season left. Maybe we’ll pick up some people in the draft… We seem to be able to get it done regardless.
If we got Torry Holt, oh yeah, it would be problems for other defenses. So if Torry Holt is listening, he needs to holla at me.
It’s become an annual ritual to [...]

The Titans and Broncos to Swap QB’s?

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s not what you’re thinking, but there’s a real possibility that Tennessee and Denver will have acquired each team’s respective backup QB’s from last season by the end of free agency. The Denver Post has reported that former Broncos backup, Patrick Ramsey, has narrowed his options to the Titans and the New England Patriots.
Former Titans QB, Chris Simms signed with the Broncos on March 4th, presumably to back up Jay Cutler.
For those of you wondering about the prospects of Cutler returning to Nashville to play for the Titans, I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much. It’s been rumored for a [...]

Lord Have Mercy…

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Thanks for suiting up today Ty Lawson. There’s no way the Tarheels would have beaten an all-of-a-sudden hot LSU team without you. The 23 points was huge, but even bigger was that 21 of them came in the second half. Meanwhile, “Pyshco T” (love him, but hate nickname) made only 3 of his 15 points in the second half. He did, however, break another record in his historic college career: most times getting hit in the face. I think it’s something like 6,000.
The dream is still alive UNC. And so is my bracket…

March Madness!!!

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The end of March is one of the highlights of many people’s sports calendars. The baseball season is about to start, the NFL draft isn’t too far away and, of course, it’s Big Dance time. Compulsively watching the NCAA tournament is almost a patriotic duty, and I know that none of you will let your country down.
With that said, while it’s a great time to live vicariously through athletes who are increasingly younger than you are, the tournament only lasts so long. Spring kicks off today, so here are some suggestions of things you might want to try in this [...]

2009 Mock Draft: Version 2.0

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Gameday, Injuries, Off-Topic, Rumors, Titans, Video | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

#
Team
Pick

1

Detroit Lions
(0-16)
OT Eugene Monroe, Virginia – There’s no reason to pick a “franchise” quarterback if there isn’t one in this draft. Monroe could protect any quarterback for the next decade.

2

St. Louis Rams
(2-14)
QB Matt Stafford, Georgia – The Rams brass don’t receive the memo, and get some insurance for Bulger – and hopefully their QB of the future.

3

Kansas City Chiefs
(2-14)
LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest – Curry might be the best prospect in the draft. KC needs help everywhere, so they take the best player on their board.

4

Seattle Seahawks
(4-12)
OT Jason Smith, Baylor – Walter Jones has been a great OT, that happens [...]

Titans sign return specialist

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Titans, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

To help fill the hole that the Chris Carr-to-the-Ravens departure created, the Tennessee Titans have come to an agreement with free agent Mark Jones. Jones spent last season with the Carolina Panthers as their main returner and a reserve wide receiver, after originally being drafted by Tampa Bay in the 7th round of the 2004 draft. He averaged 11.4 yards on punt returns, and 24 yards per kickoff return last season with the Panthers (which is on par with his career average). Jones is also a former University of Tennessee star which is something that seems to make a number [...]

Packers keep Bush, Raiders keep Miller

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Off-Topic, Titans | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

After losing handyman Chris Carr to the Baltimore Ravens this weekend, the Titans seemingly had found their guy to replace him in Green Bay restricted free agent Jarrett Bush. They signed Bush to an offer sheet on Friday, which gave the Packers seven days to either match it or move on. Apparently the team felt he was an indispensable part of their special teams unit and secondary depth, because they matched the offer sheet and will retain Bush. This means that it’s back to work (both on and off the field) for the Titans in finding some more help in [...]
