The Tennessee Titans are set to announce Chuck Cecil as their new defensive coordinator today at 3pm at Baptist Sports Park. Cecil replaces former Coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was named the new Detroit Lions head coach earlier in the off-season.

Cecil joined the Titans coaching staff in 2001 as an assistant defensive coach. He was promoted to work with defensive backs in 2004, and has served in that capacity until today’s promotion.

As a player, Cecil was a Safety for the Green Bay Packers, Phoenix Cardinals and Houston Oilers – making the Pro Bowl in 1992.

This was the guy we thought they would pick all along. By choosing Cecil, “Fish” can now promote another former Oiler/Titan, Marcus Robertson to defensive backs coach (he has been Cecil’s assistant in the secondary for the last two years). Well done Titans!
