Titans re-sign Collins and Fuller

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

While the big news of the day was the loss of DT Albert Haynesworth in free agency to the Washington Redskins, the Titans were able to re-sign starting QB Kerry Collins and nickle back Vincent Fuller. The Collins deal was closer to what we thought it would/should be (2 years/$14-15 million) and Fuller’s deal is a good one for both sides (3 years/$7 mil). He is a solid nickle guy, which is an important position in the Titans defense. Now, if they can find a way to bring CB/kick returner Chris Carr back (apparently there has been a lot of [...]

Albert Haynesworth is the new “$100 Million Dollar Man”

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Titans, Video | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

That’s right folks, Fat Al sacked us like thieves in the night, taking the insane amounts of cash and the extra years that Dan Snyder and the Washington Redskins had to offer. In total, the deal could reach almost $115 million dollars (including incentives) over the next seven years, with a whopping $41 million guaranteed (not to mention that $32 million of it is due in the first 13 months). In the end, Haynesworth took the money and left town, to the surprise of no one (at least not at Titan Sized). He’s been saying all along that he wanted [...]

The Tennessee Titans are on the Clock…

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

…and we’re not talking about the draft.
With free agency less than 24 hours away, the Tennessee Titans have a number of questions to answer at some of their most important positions. QB Kerry Collins is looking for a starting job, but has made it clear that he wants it to be with the Titans. Tennessee seems to be willing to let him test the market with the feeling that there won’t be a better situation for Collins than the one he’s already in. Supposedly, Kerry is waiting to see what Arizona Cardinals’ QB Kurt Warner (also a UFA) will get, [...]

A Titan Sized Contingency Plan

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Titans | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

A couple days ago, we were wondering who the Titans would franchise, if anyone. We weren’t alone in assuming that it would either be Bo Scaife or Rob Bironas, and now we know that we were at least part right (which is pretty easy when you set up three scenarios). Last night, Tennessee locked up Bironas with a brand new four-year deal, and earlier today placed the franchise tag on Scaife. With Albert Haynesworth letting it be known that he will test the free agent market, the Titans don’t have any pressing deadlines over the next few days, and presumably will shift [...]

Titans to Name Chuck Cecil as New Defensive Coordinator

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Titans, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Tennessee Titans are set to announce Chuck Cecil as their new defensive coordinator today at 3pm at Baptist Sports Park. Cecil replaces former Coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was named the new Detroit Lions head coach earlier in the off-season.
Cecil joined the Titans coaching staff in 2001 as an assistant defensive coach. He was promoted to work with defensive backs in 2004, and has served in that capacity until today’s promotion.
As a player, Cecil was a Safety for the Green Bay Packers, Phoenix Cardinals and Houston Oilers – making the Pro Bowl in 1992.
This was the guy we thought they would [...]

2009 Mock Draft: Version 1.0

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Draft, Rumors, Titans | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

This is Titan Sized’s very first mock draft of the off-season, so bear with us while we get acclimated with the field. In all honesty, it’s still too early to tell where most of these guys will land. A lot of things will start to fall into place once free agency starts, after the combines and once players are allowed to meet with teams for individual workouts and interviews. More importantly, this is by no means how we think the draft will actually go, as most of the people making the decisions in these things are either terrible GM’s or [...]

Tennessee Titans Draft Needs

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Draft, Titans | COMMENTS: None Yet

Positions: WR, CB, DE, LB
In recent years, Tennessee Titans fans have clamored for a top-flight wide receiver. In 2007, the team selected safety Michael Griffin from the University of Texas. In 2008, they “reached” for the speedy running back Chris Johnson out of ECU. Fortunately, those picks have paid huge dividends thus far, as both have become Pro Bowlers in their first and second seasons, respectively. With all of that said, is this finally the year that the Titans draft an impact wideout? History says no, but if a WR is the highest player they have left on their [...]

Giving My Propers…

AUTHOR: Nick Bishop | IN: Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This is going to be real quick, but I wanted to make sure that I took a minute to brag on my cousin, Jay Weinacker, who will make his way to town tomorrow with the N.C. State men’s tennis team. Jay is a senior for the Wolfpack and the team’s No. 1 singles player (he’s the No. 55 ranked player in NCAA-Div. I as well). He also currently sits only two wins away from the school’s all-time singles record. He’ll get a shot at it with matches on Saturday (against Michigan, 1 PM) and Sunday (against Vanderbilt 12 PM) at [...]

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness…

AUTHOR: kellenbarton | IN: Off-Topic, Titans | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

I apologize, (because at least 99% of you will have absolutely no interest in this whatsoever) but this post is about the Smashing Pumpkins.
Really.
If there are two passions I can legitimately say I’ve had the entirety of my life, they would be sports and music. I’ve been fortunate to have parents that in one way or another have fostered both of these avenues of interest since my inception, and have helped give me at least a modicum of knowledge and good taste. Thanks.
As someone who has played music for over half my life, and been heavily impacted by it since [...]
