Titans-Jets Game Notes

Well… (pause)… a bit of a gut shot today. We’ll break the game down Monday evening, but some thoughts on the game:

  • Numbers: The Jets scored 34 points to our 13. They held onto the ball for over 40 minutes. They gained over 400 yards. They were only penalized 3 times. Stats, stats, stats. The Titans started the game poorly and finished it worse.
  • We need to start running the ball again. We beat the Bears and Jags with our passing attack, but it’s clear that if we can’t get it done against the Jets and their 28th ranked passing defense, we can’t rely on it in the playoffs. The Green Bay game was the last time we’ve run the ball effectively (89 yards for Chris Johnson), its imperative we get back on track against Detroit. For what its worth, the Lions defense is atrocious.
  • I’m not really mad at our defense. They were banged up and played great for over half the game. The offense did nothing to help them, and more often than not put them in a bad spot. I still believe they’re a Superbowl caliber unit.
  • Anyway… I guess its not the end of the world. Losing by three touchdowns at home really sucks, but a win this Thursday puts us right back on track for the #1 seed. If the “pressure” of being undefeated affected the team, thats gone now. Hopefully we learned a little more about our team and can use that info to improve. Titan Up!
