Titans @ Jaguars Game Notes

  • We didn’t look good early on, giving up 14 points and 172 yards in the first half, but we sure know how to close games! Shutting out the Jags in the second half and scoring 21 unanswered points: mark up another impressive win for Tennessee. The Titans have now outscored their opponents 130-54 in the second half this season.

“You all alone in these streets cousin…”

  • The Titans whacked poor David Garrard all game, finishing with 4 sacks, bringing their season total against the Jags to 11. Two silly penalties on Tony Brown directly preceded both Jacksonville touchdowns, but otherwise our defensive line had an outstanding game, particularly in the second half.
  • How about Chris Carr! The man certainly earned his paycheck this week: returning kicks, punts, and playing cornerback. They picked on him but he stepped up: 4 total tackles, 3 passes defended, and a sweet interception. Most likely we’ll need his coverage skills next week too, when gun-slinger Brett Favre comes to Nashville.
  • Its so good to see the Titans connect on the deep ball. Kerry Collins threw an early interception (continuing a trend- all his interceptions this year have come in the first 8 plays), but settled down and played great, finishing with 3 touchdowns and a 112 passer rating. Even when his throws are off-target he stays composed in the pocket. His leadership permeates through the whole offense; we’re a steady, patient team, that also has a home-run threat.

Great win, Fellas!! 10-0, feels great, but we have to stay hungry and humble! We have to continue to prove ourselves week in and week out, especially since half the analysts out there think the Giants are better than us. Also, I wanted to point out VY going nuts after Collins threw the 2nd deep ball TD to Gage. For all you critics who were hatin’ on VY earlier in the season for not showing interest or any emotion on the sidelines, go back and look at the replay. If that doesn’t silence any of you detractors, then I guess nothing will except VY maybe taking his pants off and pulling a Jimmy V looking for somebody to hug. Vince, your time will come. Continue to learn from Kerry, you got some big years ahead of you!!!!

Great win Titans!!!  Hey Nick it looks like the Titans are becoming the Alabama of the NFL.  They dominate both the offensive and defensive lines as well as the special teams and rely heavily on their running games.  I think there are even some similarities between Jeff Fisher and Nick Saban.  Also both are getting little respect for their undefeated season so far.  What if The Giants or the Patriots were undefeated, how much attention would they be receiving.  I don’t know if it’s the city they play in or the workman like way that they are winning ball games that seems to yawn the sports writers.  Never mind the ’72 Dolphins have taken notice of the Titans as rumor as it they have hired a vudoo doctor to put a curse on Kerry Collins.  Let the good times roll.

well if we’re alabama, then what does that make the giants? florida? uh oh…

and how dare you compare jeffstachio’ to satan? i mean saban. i won’t accept any likeness between the two. other than that they are both really, really good football coaches. one is just a really good dude too.

i will admit though, it would be pretty sweet if the our teams went a combined 33-0 and won a lombardi trophy and a national championship between the two states. unfortunately for all you bama fans, the mighty auburn tigers are going to make sure that you don’t hold up your end of the bargain next week. warrrrr eagle hey!!!!!!!

I noticed that you didn’t capitalize “auburn” or “tigers” is that do to there 5-6 record, but I do digress.  I think Fisher and Saban have more in common than just an undefeated record.  Check out the article about Saban on Rivals.com and I think you will see what I mean.  Both men are perfectionist driven to be the best. And oh by the way, the Giants (aka Florida) may bethe amore’ of the media, but remember one thing, both the Giants and Florida have one loss.  Alabama and the Titans do not.  Oh Nicky what a match made in heaven.
