Mike Williams Released

If Mike Williams does realize the potential he showed coming out of Southern California, it will be with a team other than the Titans. Quoted by the AP coach Jeff fisher had this to say:

“I just wasn’t seeing the production, and when you get in a situation where you don’t see the production, and you’ve got a young group of receivers that are emerging, I just felt like it was in our best interests to let him go at this point. Maybe Mike can hook on some place else.”

Had he preformed better in camp Williams could have been a pretty big steal, but he hasn’t been able come close to duplicating his production in college at any of his professional stops. In addition to his well documented weight and conditioning issues, he has also had the propensity to drop more than his fair share of passes in his career. For Titans fans this was seen most notably in the form of a crucial drop (while with Oakland) in a game against Tennessee that created a turnover on downs late in the Fourth Quarter. A reception would have given the Raiders a First Down in the red zone, but instead the Titans ran the clock out without another Oakland possession.

The Titans signed WR Chris Davis to fill Williams spot and K Jon Vaughn in response to Rob Bironas’ injury.

A Titans win projection has been posted on Gamblers Television, with some interesting points. Apparently the over/under on wins is currently at 8. Please note that this link is not an endorsement of the website, prediction or gambling by Titan Sized. Again, there is just some interesting content.

We will have our own prediction of wins and losses for the upcoming season as part of our Team Preview to appear in the very near future.
