nicely summed up vinsanty10. if haynesworth can stay on the field for the majority of the season and plays the way that he is capable of playing at a more consistent level, then you (and teddy kgb) are absolutely correct... give the man his money.

something to think about: a buddy of mine read this post and brought up the point that i made that haynesworth was unlike any other player in titans franchise history and one of the most dominant players in the the entire league. he quickly reminded me of kearse and how dominant he was his first few years in the league and pointed out that he was too one of the best defensive players in the league at that time. while i agree with his assessment, i think that the position haynesworth plays is quite different in regards to an interior lineman's ability to make such an impact. i mean, i can think of a handful of DE's right away from the just the last five years that i would consider to be as good or better for a time than jevon was at his best (strahan, taylor, freeney, peppers, allen).

my point is that haynesworth is dominating at a position that usually doesn't have the disruptive impact that a DE or LB may have, and the fact that there is no other defensive tackle with anywhere close to his skill set makes him all the more special. so, we'll see. nice article in the tennessean today about how the two sides were still talking about their future was uplifting to read (<a href="http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080724/SPORTS01/807240359/1027" title="Tackle, Titans Continue to Talk" rel="nofollow">here</a>). let's just hope big al stays healthy because i've got a good feeling that the fate of our season will start (and hopefully stop) with the defense.

we should have a preview of training camp later on so stay tuned...

Well written. I'd have to agree with you on multiple points. Haynesworth makes a bigger impact on the D-line than any other d-line player in the National Football League. A bold statement, I know, but look back at Titans games last year and see teams double and triple-team him. Yet with that being said, he's also the same guy that's helped off the field every 5-10 plays, so he leads the category of "I'm really tired Coach so take me out" or "Ouch I just bumped heads with someone and I want a breather." Let's see the kind of year he has, and if it's any replica of last season.. give the man his money.
